It is the largest outdoor powwow in the Pacific Northwest and among the largest in America, hosted every year by the Coeur d’Alene Tribe and Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort Hotel. As it has been for the past nine years, Julyamsh will be held at
About 60,000 will attend over the three days, beginning with a horse parade and grand entry on Friday evening, July 27th. Over time, the crowd has become almost as colorful and culturally diverse as the participants, this coming as the number of tourists continues to grow, representing various regions of North America, Europe and Asia.
“This is a time for us to thank our Creator for the blessings we have to share,” said Cliff SiJohn, Director of Cultural Affairs at the Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort Hotel. “Far beyond that, it is a time for sharing our bounty not only with each other, but with all people.”
Greyhound Park is also immensely accommodating, providing air-conditioned comfort in the pavilion, along with outdoor seating around the dance area. The dance area is about the size of a football field. Scores of vendors, providing sales of food, arts, crafts and many other items, will set up inside and outside the facilities.
As always, admission to Julyamsh is free. A $5 parking fee is charged for each vehicle, regardless of the number of passengers.
